As a largely volunteer-based organization, we rely on the support and dedication of our volunteers to help us save lives. Hearts & Bones is a small, close-knit team where every volunteer truly makes a huge difference. Whether you can commit to a few hours per month or several hours per week, we want to hear from you!

    After volunteering for almost 2 years, I am now regularly running into HBR alums in my neighborhood - simply seeing how amazingly the pups have integrated into their new families, motivates me to continue volunteering. All dogs deserve the opportunity to love and be loved, HBR is their advocate and I could not be happier to be part of such an impactful organization.

    I love the feeling of knowing that every day I am doing something to help dogs. I have always felt heartbroken by the sheer amount of dogs in shelters that face euthanasia or that are not getting the love they deserve, and one of the things that helps me cope with that fact is that I know I am doing something to combat it. I also have absolutely loved the community that comes along with being part of HBR. We all need other dog people in our lives!

    This has been the best organization to get involved with and I'm so proud of the work we do. The best part is getting updates from adopters on dogs who were completely shut down or sick and seeing how far they have come and that they finally got to have their happy ending. I can't wait to continue to be a part of all the lifesaving work we will continue to do.

    My journey with HBR started in February 2022 when I fostered alum Lexi Howard. I was impressed by how supportive and efficient the HBR team was and met many other HBR alumni and fans around the neighborhood in my short time as a foster. So when I was between jobs a few months later I decided to help out myself and it’s given me a nice sense of purpose outside of my 9-5 job.

    I really wanted to be part of a community of people that were so passionate about what they do while also helping save so many dogs! So I joined the adoption coordinator team, and haven't looked back! I love getting to see first hand all of the dogs that are being saved and finding their furever homes. I also love that HBR is a completely foster based rescue, and everyone I have worked with has always put their full effort into making sure dogs get placed with their perfect families.
